So as I laid in bed last night, hamster going 90 mph on its wheel in my head, I started to think about some things. I realized how many times a day I say I'm stressed, or complain or just have a bad attitude. I worry, I fuss, I moan and groan, I overthink, overanalyze and sit in a place of discontent. I spend so much time trying to perfect and do right, be right, think right, that I lose sight of what is truly right. The truth: I am blessed. Cue, Martina McBride. (and here she is for those of you who cannot conjure up the song)
I laid there in bed, surrounded by my girls (ya know the ones who sleep so close to me I literally cannot move) and smiled. I have a good job, house (that I own), loving family and friends, clothes, shoes, purses... ya get my drift.
Wow, for someone who has so much I sure act like the world is falling in on me. Yeah, I get that sometimes life is rough and I get angry with the circumstances I face, but in the grander scheme of things I am blessed. I wake up every morning knowing where my food will come from, have a closet full of clothes to choose from and the two loving puppies who want nothing but my love. I get texts, calls, messages from people who love me and care about me. I get the chance to impart knowledge on people, help them, guide them.
I also get to see the glory of God at work. I have watched Him speak truth into others and myself; I have witnessed His love open hearts, let down guards and show others what it means to believe. I choose to let Him fill the voids left by years of suffering and pain in my life. I allowed Him to let people in my life and to touch their lives. Yes, I am blessed.
I challenge you to take a minute today to stop and think about how wonderful your life actually is. Take a minute to stop worrying, stressing, putting emphasis on the material and thank God for the blessings in your life.
