Workout Wednesday

It occurred to me that I rarely blog about one part of my life that pretty huge: working out. So, I have decided to share more of this with you guys. From my workout story, my actual workouts, my diet, etc... and if you have questions, ask away! So here goes my first Workout Wednesday!

I was never overweight growing up. I was so active between dance, baton twirling, soccer, and karate that I just never stopped moving. I was teeny tiny, and did not grow until about my sophomore year in high school. During high school, I stayed active with baton and cheerleading. And college, I was able to maintain somewhat of my normal weight due to twirling and playing intramural sports for my sorority. So, it was not until after college that I got my freshman-15. Let's face it, I was working full-time, not twirling for the first time and existing on $5 Little Cesear's pizza and PB sandwiches. I was destined to put on some weight. But, I never thought of myself as "fat." I was a size 6-8, and for the first time in my life had boobs! Yes, people I had D's.

So, there I was at 23, a full year of working behind me. I met M that year and he was a workout fiend. He never said anything to me about my weight (let's face it, he liked the boobs). But then I decided I would compete one last year in Miss Texas. And it all changed overnight (ok not overnight, but it was the spark).

I began working out 4-5 days a week. It was slow at first, and I mean slow, as I was running 15 minutes at 5mph and huffing all the way. When did I get so out of shape? I slowly began to shed weight and incorporated weights into my routine. M was great with this. He set up workouts for me, got me in touch with a nutritionist and workouts from his former conditioning coach. I cut out soda cold turkey, no bread, no carbs pretty much and stuck to protein, veggies and fruit. Oh, and I quit drinking for the most part. Yup, stuck to the occasional gin and tonic or vodka soda. I shed the lb's like crazy people! Seriously! Look: (and I promised I would never do this, but proof is in the pics)

July 2007 Miss Texas

See, the pounds melted away and I was hooked! I was down to about a size 0/2 and loving life. M suddenly paid way more attention to me and I felt great! I managed to lose about 30 pounds in about 6 months.

Post Miss Texas I pretty much stayed on the bandwagon. Sure, I relaxed some and had my fair share of pancakes and ice cream. I probably put on about 5-7 pounds, but stayed slim and kept working out. Little did I know that this dream of mine would turn into a total life change.
October 2007, wearing my high school prom dress

See, I did it the right way. I watched my diet, worked out and lost weight slowly over time. No fad diets, no pills, no crazy things. So, I kept it off. It also kicked started something in my brain. I never wanted to go back.

So, what's your story? Life changing event? Health? Always lived your life this way? I want to hear it. Link Up and tell me your Workout Wednesday Story! And tune in next week to hear about my workout story became an obsession.

Another One Bites the Dust

And with that, another weekend is in the history books. Can't say it was exciting or memorable. It consisted of mostly, work and some cleaning. My house is getting the total spring cleaning makeover people.

Its amazing how much stuff one can amass in such a short time. I closed on my house back in July. Yes, just 9 months ago. At the time, I just wanted to get stuff moved and be "settled." I didn't bother going through a lot of things, and honestly I wasn't ready to at the time. It was too raw, too emotion and still so real to me. So, I just boxed up my previous life because it was easier. I always knew I would need to eventually clean it all out, but July was not the time.

But, now its spring. Time to begin anew, and so I cleaned. Ok, so not technically cleaned, but more threw a ton of "stuff" away. I went through my closet, shoes, pictures, plastic tubs full of stuff from college. Why was it that I was holding onto this or that. Was it because it meant something to me, or because somehow if I kept it, then I might get it all back. Those shoes, do I really like them? Does that skirt really fit? ( I mean, come on, am I really going to go back to 113 pounds overnight? do I really want to?) It was cathartic, emotional, but good.

But let me tell you people, the best part, was watching people literally take my trash from the curb was I was putting it out there. Overnight, someone took the wooden pallets, and Sophie's old dog gate. Two broken lamps, old law books, a dirty rug, old twirling trophies, broken vacuum.... yeah you get my drift. each time I would take something else to the curb, more of the junk disappeared. Eh, one person's junk, is another one's treasure.

The girls loved playing outside and were pooped after the day.\

So, after a day of cleaning and trashing throwing away, I needed some Tex-Mex. We headed downtown to the new Taco Diner I was so excited because I love Mi Cocina and this is one of its sister restaurants. Thoroughly disappointed in its Fajita Salad. It consisted of what appeared to be bagged salad mix, over cooked dry chicken and pre-packaged shredded cheese. So sad. The ceviche was pretty good, with its pineapple and jicama, but overall, I was hoping for a good spot for a salad for lunch and this was not it.

So, here's to Monday and another week. So excited though because Friday I leave for my annual Girls' Trip to The Texas Hill Country! I need this like none other. Happy Monday ya'll!

On Hold

Linking up with the ladies again for another session of 5 of Friday! Today, I bring the you the 5 things that really annoy me.

1. That cupcakes, bundt cakes, cookies, ice cream, ok you get the drift, have calories. Yup, I know totally sucks. They should be calorie-free treats that fix break ups, bad days, rainy weather, depression and stress.

2. Hang Nails. I mean come on! I take my vitamins, use moisturizing lotion, cuticle oil, heck I even put Neosporin on them and wrap 'em in band-aids! But nope, just keep coming back! And man, I just cannot stop picking at them, biting them, cutting them (hence the band-aids). Its like when you bite your lip and then you keep biting it.

3. Sweating. I mean, really? Must I sweat? Ya no, right in the middle of anything important, i.e. mediation, hearing, conference call...

4. Slow drivers. I mean, seriously, the speed limit says 40, go 40! Not 20, 30 or 35, not even 39 go 40 people. I have better things to do than watch you piddle around trying to figure out that you can turn left on a red at a one way street, or that in fact, no you can longer go down Main Street through Sundance Square. See, that little peddle thing  next the brake your foot is currently riding, is call the gas, use it!

5. Being "on hold." As in, I have currently been on hold for 35 minutes with no hope of  being heard before this office closes. So, I will sit patiently listening to the nice lady tell me she apologizes that all agents are currently helping other customers and for me to please hold and my call will be handled soon.

In An Instant

It’s the snap of your fingers, the blink of an eye--that fleeting moment. It’s the minute when you stare into space and hours seem to pass. The here, the now, and the then.

Life. In the grand order of the universe, our life on Earth is a mere flash.

The choices and decisions you make each day create an impact. They not only affect you, but those around you. What you set into motion through one word, one step, or one knowing look matters.

Everyone experiences those moments in life when the world changes. Time stands still, the breeze motionless and nothing stays the same. It just takes a second because it all changes, in an instant.

Umm, Could you Leave Please?

OK, I know that I do some pretty strange things. In fact, we all do. We each have that thing, that if someone else saw us do, we would, do the whole raised eyebrows, WTF are you doing look. And I have realized that many of these things happen in the bathroom. Cause where else we would do rather strange things, right? For instance:

  • not flushing when its only #1. Ok, I get that it conserves water, etc... but in a public place? or in someone else's home? Flush people! Just push that lil knob thing. I do not want to see that when I walk into a public restroom or when I go into my own WC post guests.
  • Talking while I am on the commode. Ok, so maybe if I am at home and you are yelling at me from the other side of the house because I don't know, its burning down or an intruder is coming, but in general, when I am enthroned, I do not want to see anyone, let alone have any kind of discussion with you. Period. End of Subject.
  • Turning on the exhaust fan. That is not its purpose people! That is to remove moisture from the air, not your foul odor post whatever you do in there. Use air freshener. which leads me to my next point
  • Use air freshener. if its there, and you just let out le poo, spray le bottle that is sitting right next to you--its what its there for! And even if you don't think its bad, use it anyway. Won't hurt.
  • Wait til the flush is done. Yeah. Just wait. Ya never know if you leftovers are still lurking, and I for one, do not want to see them.
  • Doing anything other than restroom, powder room related activities in the restroom. I get it, you see a co worker in the john and you chat for a few seconds, no biggie. You brush your hair, brush your teeth, fix your make up, fine! But, please, for the love, do not do anything else in there. Don't get on your cell phone and have a convo, don't journal, pay bills, read a book, eat your lunch, please, if you are going to do any of that in a restroom, when I walk in, could you just leave?

Just Be

Its moments like these that make me realize how blessed I am. Saturday morning, sleeping puppies, the sun coming through the windows as I watch reruns of the last season of SITC. Perfection.

Sure, I could be looking through depos to prepare for trial, or reviewing production for exhibits lists; I could put away the dishes or start the laundry, I could do a myriad of things that need to be done. Or, I could just be.

Its so easy to get caught up in the "must dos" of life. Between work, church, social life, I often forget to enjoy the small moments of life. Even on the weekends, its a schedule of getting up , getting to the gym, grocery store, errands, so I get home and do work around the house and catch up on work from the week. It can be exhausting. People ask me all the time how I relax, or what I do to have fun, and I stop, pause for that awkward 10-15 seconds and say read? workout?

How sad is it that my "relaxation" is a scheduled activity I squeeze in at 5am during the week? Or reading means depos versus a good ole fashioned book? When did life get so hectic? When did life stop being fun and become all work? When did I forget that Saturday mornings are for pancakes and puppies?

Take time to count your blessings this week. To take in the sunshine, a good rerun of your favorite show and to enjoy pancakes with your puppies--if they stay awake long enough.

For Real?

I love Easter! Everything about it. The risen Lord, the baskets, the chocolate, family togetherness... I mean what more could you want?

My weekend was full of things and stuff and busyness. It involved a little organizing of the kitchen, purging of things I do not need, furniture shopping & Easter baskets!

So, today rejoice in the Lord, know He is Risen! And enjoy my Easter basket pics (yes we are in our 30's and exchanged baskets!)

Remember

Today we remember. We do not rejoice, nor celebrate the resurrection. Today we must sit quietly in the darkness and reflect on His suffering. For without the darkness, we cannot see the light.

He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. Like one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.  Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted.  But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.  We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.  He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth.  By oppression and judgment he was taken away. And who can speak of his descendants? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was stricken.  He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth.
Isaiah 53:3-9

Happily Ever

So last Friday came and went. I did not lose it, cry myself to sleep, or do something dumb like call or text. Maybe it was because I was in DC surrounded by BOFF and her family, or because my feet hurt so bad from walking our nation's capital all day, or perhaps its because I am happy.

Yeah,  happy. That word that seem to allude me for so many years. Was I a happy child? I think so, at some points. Teens? Surely no. College? There were moments. Law school? Seriously? My 20's? Yes and no. Happy. Its just not a word I ever associated with me. Content? yeah, I often just felt content. But is content enough?

I admit, I have always been one of those girls who believes in Prince Charming, fairytales and happily ever after. I think growing up in a disjointed home can do that to you. My journal, thoughts, and wishes were for "normal," whatever the heck that meant. But to me, normal meant marriage, house, kids, 2 dogs, good job, want for nothing, surely no divorce--normal. I look back and can see so many things, choices, decisions that I made because it was on my path to normal, my pursuit of something better than what I knew growing up. I tried so hard to control, force, push, and where did it land me? I settled for content. Now, don't get me wrong, I loved and still love M. He will always be a part of me, and I don't regret my life with him for one moment. But. had I known then what I know now, I can't say I would have made the same decisions. In fact, I had myself convinced that I was never to know happiness, that somehow I was missed when the happy fairy waved her magic wand.

Then I realized that happy isn't what I thought it was. Its not sunshine, lollipops and cupcakes (although those things make me happy). Its waking every morning knowing  my wrongs have been forgiven and I have a new day granted to me to begin again. Its accepting my faults and shortcomings and striving to do better. Its putting aside myself wants and needs for others. Its being ok in the wilderness knowing He will lead me out of it, in time. Its accepting the things I cannot change and relieving myself of the burdens of others that I was never meant to carry. Its opening my heart and letting someone in, and I mean really in.

No, I have not stopped believing in fairytales, its just that my definition and picture of what one is has changed. See, in every fairytale, Disney story or lifetime sappy movie, what we forget is the struggle. Each character suffers from some trial, tribulation, pain. They suffer through to the ending, to their happily ever after.

I no longer look at my suffering as punishment. No, its merely party of my journey, its the curves, turns, and twists on my fairytale--to my Happily Ever.

Seeing is Believing

For most of us Easter means ham, eggs hunts, baskets, attending church on Sunday and indulging in too many cadbury eggs and peeps. I, in fact, love Easter. I admit, I love the giving of baskets, goodies, dying eggs, and putting on my Easter best. I love that is signifies the coming of spring, sun dresses, sandals and my cherished white Tory Burch purse. Its a time of newness, rebirth, and life.  This is clear through the green grass sprouting, blooms on the trees, and the life that April showers bring. This year I am especially excited for Easter because this year, I can see beyond the Hallmark holiday and into the greater gift not found in any perfectly embroidered basket.

I'd like to paint a picture for you.

Its warm, dusty, crowded. People are shoulder-to-shoulder. They are shouting with joy and its almost as if they are watching a parade. In a sense, this is a parade. Slowly, Jesus makes his way through the crowd, atop a donkey. He is exalted, esteemed, and given a king's welcome into the city. Cloaks are laid at his feet to form a path, and the crowd shouts "Hosana!" The same crowd that will just days later shout "crucify him!"

Could you do it? Would you do it? Ride atop a donkey knowing what is to come? Could you submit your whole being for your father? For all the world's people? Would you be obedient when every fiber in your body screams, no?

This scene painted so artfully in all four Gospels never ceases to amaze me. Its sends chills through my body and reminds me of His awesome love.

See, He knew we could not do it, would not do it. He mustered the courage, the obedience, the loyalty, the faith and walked into a crowd who shouted at Him "Hosana"--help us, save us. How fitting.

This picture is one of the love he had for us, the sacrifice he gave for us. He rode into the crowd knowing full-well what was to come, and never turned back.

What a display of faith. This is where I falter. I have for sometime looked backwards for what I could have done or should have done, and become frustrated when I am unable to control the forward momentum of my life, wanting so badly to know what will come. But I can neither change the past, or control the future. Just like Him. So this Easter season, I will walk by faith alone. I will trust in Him. Because, my heart will betray me, my friends will betray me, my family will betray, but like Him when the crowd betrayed Him, He saved.

We need not see to believe, only trust.

Keeping it Together

I knew it would happen. Ya know the day in your lawyer life when you, eek, miss a deadline. I thought it had come yesterday. There I was working away on the things left for me to get done after my mini vacay. Tweedle de de.... ho hum,, and then BAM! What? They served that? When? How? How many days? What did the Order say? Its already reset? What?

These thoughts swarmed my lil head. I was so confused and panicked and well I may have had a mini heart attack right there in my office. yeah, total false alarm. I mean I plan, calendar and make a million and one post its, how could I forget?

But, I digress (yeah you totally thought this was going to be planner, lawyer thing huh?) See, it was my reaction. I'm a crier. Things go wrong? cry. Mad? cry. Sad? cry. Boss yells at you? cry. Think you have missed a deadline? cry.

Yup, people, the tears swell up and I lose it. I want to just crawl into a hole and bawl. Productive? Yeah right. It has been a goal of mine to work on keeping it together.

Yup, grown woman here who just sometimes losses it. I'm not quite sure where this came from and when it developed, but somewhere between confidant teen and lawyer I lost control of my ability to see when tears are needed.

So, should you walk by me on the way to the bathroom while dressed in suit and heels, don't worry Ill get it together.

And... Happy Birthday to my BOFF!!!

The Time I Went to Washington

What a weekend!!! In case you missed it, I went to Washington, DC this weekend for the most epic of vacays and a Blate! I finally got to meet my BOFF P!inky and Jenn! I headed off to DC for Jenn's wedding and P!nky's birthday weekend! To say I was excited is the most understatement of all time. i was elated, excited, over the top could not hold in the excitement happy!

I got in and headed out to see DC since I had never been. It was Cherry Blossom Festival and boy were they in bloom! DC was gorgeous! Beware of picture overload:

Then, I headed back into Clarendon for P!nky's bday dinner! It was major public screaming! I had a blast with her family and friends and well just being together!!

Saturday was wedding day! Man oh man did Jenn look beautiful!

BOFF, we were made for each other!

Mr. and Mrs.

gorgeous bride!

3 bloggers, 3 great friends!

We danced the night away and just had a blast! If you didn't now we had just met in person you would have never known, it was like we had known each other for years. Which, technically we did, but not IRL! Yes, people, this was real life, major reality!

Its funny, I knew I had connected with P!nky and Jenn and Jessica, but its so different when you meet them in person and talk to them. I had built up this crazy anticipation and it lived up to it! Seriously, I thought P!inky and I had a connection, but we really do! Funny how God works and puts people in our lives and finds a way for it to work.

I know that my friendship with these two woman will only grow over time. I am beyond blessed! It was also the best way to spend the anniversary of the big D, with two of my closest friends, two people who had been there through it all.

Sunday I headed to church and brunch with P!inky and her family. It was the perfect end to the perfect weekend. Praising Him with one of my best friends IRL now. I loved sharing my faith with her and her family (who  by the way are the coolest people ever!). And le husband, well C is the best (thank you C for indulging your wife's crazy passion to write and meet people in person she has only know via blogging!)

Although I was sad to go and totally already miss her, & Jenn, I know this is only the beginning! But... I was so happy to see these faces when I got home:

Hope ya'll had an epic weekend as well.

This Is It

One year ago today I closed one chapter of my life and began a new one. One where I was on my own again. One where I no longer had someone to come home to every night. One where I was in control of my own destiny. Yes, one year ago today I went from a Mrs. to a Ms.

I have been through so much in the last year. I moved, adopted a new dog, bought a house, took on more responsibility at work, found a church home, developed wonderful friendships, renewed old friendships, found myself and found love again.

And today, one year later, I am starting another chapter. Today I get to make two of my BOFF my IRL friends. I get to witness Jenn starting a new chapter in her life and develop a friendship that has blossomed over almost 2 years. I get to laugh, dance, hug, scream and see what friendship is about. I get to live my life.

People ask you how you are after it. Heck, I asked people when it would get better, when I would feel better, when my pain and sadness would end. But the thing is, M will always be a part of my life. He was most of my 20's. He shared in so much of my life. I can only describe it like experiencing the death of a loved one. But much like grieving the loss of life, gradually you begin to heal.

Its slow and I'm not sure when it began or ended, or whether it ever truly will, but I'm ok with it. See, I know I cannot control life. I am not the master, I am only a willing participant, but I promise to always enjoy the ride.

So, Happy Wedding Jenn and Happy Birthday P!nky!

Like Whoa

Sometimes I run across things in my career that make me stop, roll the eyes and go whoa. And I think "Does that crap really happen?" Yeah, it so does.

Exhibit A:

Two lawyers are getting married. One works for a very well-known big law firm. Here is their wedding website.

Exhibit B:

You work on a case for several years. Yes you heard me years. It settles the day before trial.

Exhibit C:

You have friends who are prosecutors who gloss over the fact that they are working a case in which a mother has basically pimped out her own children for drug money. Yeah, they just pop that into normal conversation. One minute its how's your salad over lunch, followed by, yeah you know the case where mom pimps out her kids.... hold the croutons people!

Exhibit D:

A nursing home hired strippers for its residents. Yeah, you heard me. You better believe there was a lawsuit.

Who said the life of a lawyer was boring?

The Madness

And today, it is over. March Madness that is. Did anyone notice that its technically April? Like April 8? I get, it, it takes time to play an entire tournament that begins with 64 teams, but its March Madness.... not April. NCAA, I'm going to need you to start this shindig a lil earlier next year so as to not have March Madness run into the glory that is opening day in April.

OK, so maybe its because I live in Fort Worth and have endured the closed streets, backed up highways and could not get anywhere in the DFW Metroplex in the last week. Now, don't mark me as a basketball hater, I love me some college sports: the fans, the rivalries, the bracket challenge, the Cinderella story, come from behind, no one expected UConn and Kentucky to be in the Final, glory that is college basketball. But April, well its reserved for all things Opening Day and the triumph return of baseball.

Maybe I am a little miffed because Duke betrayed me and well ruined my hopes and dreams of winning the Office Bracket, or maybe its because I went to a school that most people may not know even has a basketball team, or perhaps its the torrential downpour that plagued DFW and kinda killed the glorious broadcasting from my beloved Sundance Square, but I have bid a fond ado to March Madness eventhoughitstechnicallyApril and announce its time for America's pasttime! So get it in gear Rangers and Let's Play Ball!

Monday Blues

Did anyone else have a hard time getting up this morning? Anyone else stare at the clock for what seemed like hours last night hoping you would drift off? Anyone? Bueller? Perhaps it was the lack of anything thrilling this weekend besides pizza and rain and feeling under the weather... But today starts a new week and in less than 4 days I will be headed to DC to see/meet/whatever Jenn & P!nky!!!

I will see I did have the most epic pizza Friday night, of the dessert persuasion. It was vanilla bean marscapone filled with cinnamon apples and caramel.... Yeah, epic. We sat a the bar of Cane Rosso and I delighted in watching pizza after pizza made. And I may have flirted with said pizza maker.... extra apples? please?

Saturday, well was yard day and sick day. It started out well and then ended with more icky feeling ness and wrapping myself in a blanket and watching About Time. Which, BTW everyone needs to see... so not what you think and so good and it will make you want to call your parents.

Sophie also decided to wrap herself up in a blanket and channel her inner ET. If that face just does not kill you, I don't know what will!

And that my friends, was my weekend!

5 on Friday

Oye vey! Its Friday. As in start of the weekend, lil chilly start, but high of 72 Friday. Linking up with the lovely 5 on Friday ladies and here we go:

  1. In one week, I get to finally meet IRL Jenn & P!nky!!! Umm yes, this epic blate of blates is happening and I get to celebrate Jenn's nuptials! I am beyond excited. And its my first time in DC and I have been in extra need of a little getaway.
  2. Stress, as in its about to do me in. Yesterday, for instance, I was doing fine, hanging in my office trying to get some work done, when bam! You know that feeling you get, watering mouth, hot flash, lightheaded, and yup off I ran to the bathroom. And I had to use the 3rd floor since our ladies' room was out. And the contents of my stomach swirled away in the belly of the 3rd floor porcelain goddess. With that, I sent myself home. I don;t know if it was food related, stress related or a combo of both, but today I'm at work, but glad the 2nd floor potty is back in action.
  3. Sunshine. So after I woke up from my I just upchucked sleep, I looked outside and it was gorgeous. I thought perhaps some fresh air would help and some vitamin d. So I walked my butt outside with my laptop to try to work. It was gorgeous, Happy sun, warmth on my face.... yeah I made it 1.5 second before the quesiness came back and I walked by my butt back inside, but man that few seconds felt great!
  4. I have been on the perfect shoe hunt. I need some good summer shoes that can take me from office to out and I just cannot find what I want. I just cannot get into the block chunk heel that is apparently in right now. It just looks so heavy, and clunky and well not me. Anyone with me? Anyone found a great summer shoe that just think I need?
  5. Easter. It may just be my favorite holiday. Ok, it is my favorite. I love that it in Spring, little girls in frilly dresses, hats and gloves, pearls. I love egg dying and egg hunting. I love Easter baskets and still make them and like to get one. I love Easter vigil, all things about the coming of Christ, the Resurrection and the Ascension. Its just my kinda day. Do you have any Easter traditions?
That's it ya'll. Sorry been so sparse this week.

Making Time

See, I did not disappear, go missing, stop blogging or have some catastrophe of life. I merely did not have time! The last three days have been pretty busy for me at work. I had a response to a summary judgment motion due Monday, a summary judgment motion in federal court due Tuesday, plus a mediation, and today I had the dentist and catching up on a plethora of things that went untouched last week due to writing! See, I work! For those of you who know nothing about the law, summary judgment involves a lot of writing! And in federal court, a huge appendix of evidence... aka time consuming, tedious, but I love it! I love legal writing, mostly because it can lead to oral argument, and that is what I want to do.

But in between all the work and writing some fun did occur. I did have girls' nite Friday! There was wine, pizza, giant homemade PB rice krispie treats, dominoes and Frozen. And then we were all home and in bed by 11pm. I know old balls. Saturday was a combo of work, a run, some yard work... Oh yes, yard work. Funny lil story here.

So, I wanted to mow the lawn before I met CT for lunch. So after my run, I pulled out the mower and proceeded to rev her up! Nothing. Nada. So I phoned a friend and proceeded to try again. Nope. Not.A.Thing. So, I phoned a friend again. We went over like 3 things and then he said: does it have gas? Gulp. Well.... ummm (as I fidget to get the gas cap off) Yeah, well ok thanks for your help (not a drop in that thing). Total blonde moment, but hey I mowed the lawn: all by myself!

I also headed to the Fort Worth Food & Wine Festive, Burgers, Brews & Blues event Saturday night! Fun was had by all! Including photos in the rad photebus (yup, as in VW bus)

mini burgers from like 20 different places

beer tastings, which I  had none

And then Sunday was a run in the morning along the Trinity followed by lunch with one of my best friends from high school. We hadn't seen each in a couple months, and it was so good to catch up with her. Then it was off to the Container Store and Target! Project: Closet organization! Let's  just say, my shoes have new clear plastic boxes, and my purses their own little cubby! I finally took my rug home from my office into the house! And then had some spaghetti for dinner, nothing fancy, but just right!

Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday kinda flew by. But I got to be the lawyer Tuesday, to the tune of filing the motion and brief all by myself and handling my first mediation solo! Small inside joke, by one of the partners I work for likes to tell me to "be the lawyer" which scares the bejesus out of my sometimes, but I guess this proves I can do it when I need to!

Let's just say that all work and no play, makes one tired Sophie.... Seriously, pup slept like this for 2 hours Tuesday night! One little paw just hanging out there.
