It's OK Thursday
Yeah I know, a little MIA this week. From work overload, to insomnia I have been rather fearful to post lest you all think I have either gone over the edge or complain that all I do is well, complain. But today, no today its OK to do all of the above because I am linking up with Neely and Amber to tell you what is OK this week....
It ok....
to eat a slick of cake and have gelatto in the same day
to wake up at 5am put on your workout clothes and decide you are just too tired to move and go back to bed
that I have no desire to be at work this week since its "spring break" but I do not really get spring break anymore
to cry in the middle of the day because you are so tired and frustrated
to close your day after you eat lunch lay your head on your desk and sleep for 30 minutes (hey its my office, my lunch break)
to just say no
to hurt someone's feelings when its not out of spite
to love and let go
that somedays I workout just so I can eat dessert
to come home, take off your shoes and just go to sleep
that I'm not always the best mommy to Chloe because I am so darn tired, but heck she sleeps all day (must be nice)
that I am 30 and just now figuring out life!
and add me to your Bloglovin since Google reader is oging bye bye

Weekend in Review {Lynn Lately}
I feel like I have been in a whirlwind for I dunno like the past 3 years. Do we ever get "down" time as we get older? Oh for the days of spring break and actual weekends... Alas, I have managed a little fun this past week or so. Here is what I have been up to lately:
My favorite munchkin turned 16! Yeah that little annoying things that followed me around at twirling competitions and can be quite the little butt, turned 16! Where did the time go? Her uber cute little sister turned 10 the next day so we had family birthday celebration last week for some sushi! It was some much-needed family time for me and as always the night ended with a dance party to Pink Floyd!
Also since the move I have been slowly gathering furniture. Last week my lovely Aunt granted me use of a table and gifted me some chairs! So what else would we do, but load it up in the El Camino and head to my apartment. Yes, you heard me El Camino! This was Papa Charlie's, and may look small, but a table, four chairs and the base all fit nicely in the back! Now, all I have to do is recover the chairs and paint them and I'll be rocking!

Friday night I also hung out with my favorite 16 year old. We did dinner, ice cream and then rented a movie for girl's nite in! It's quite amazing to see the gorgeous and intelligent young woman she has grown into. I am amazed at her poise and strength. I just hope she keeps grounded, and achieves great things. Love you Munchkin!
I also managed to do some work this weekend, who is shocked there? Me, work? No... I also saw OZ! I had mixed emotions going in, it was either going to be great or disappoint. It was, well er, ok... I liked the hints to the original and the costuming and special effects were awesome. The story was so so. I much prefer the book to most movies, but as far as entertainment value it was good. Mila Kunis did a good job in her role, though I'm not surw how I feel about her as a wicked witch. I personally was hoping for a little more song, and some more humor... The china doll character was pretty good as was monkey, but it lacked a little in good ole laughs, but did not lack in sexual innuendos. See it, judge for yourself.
Saturday night I attended an ealry St Patty's party thrown by a co-worker, no green beer for me, but yummy corned beef and potatoes were had! It was basically a room full of lawyers, yeah we are a hoot, let me tell you!
Sunday was church, nap, workout and dinner with an old friend. Our Pastor never diappoints and again this week's sermon was nothing but amazing. I mean it has to be when its likened to a Tarantino film!
All-in-all a good weekend was had by all. Up this week I'm super busy, but looking forward to the sun and warmth that is rumored to be heading our way. I need a tan like nobody's business! Happy spring break all!

Confessional Friday
Has anyone else felt like this was the longest week in the history of weeks? Cause mine would just not end and I still know I have to survive the next 8 hours! Anywho, here's to my little confessions this week:
I confess... if one more person announces a baby I may puke. NO offense I know its a momentous, wonderful occasion, but I'm a little baby-ed out!
I confess... I have a carb problem, ok more a bread problem. I mean I eat whole wheat but I love the stuff. Its not a good thing for me or my waistline.
I confess... I have been less than motivated to workout lately. Yes I go to the gym or run, but my heart just has not been in it.
I confess... I have a shopping problem. Some people emotional eat, I emotional shop. Clothes, accessories, you know it I have bought it in the last month.
I confess... I hate sushi. Yeah I know, shocked. Well, I just do not get the obsession. Its raw fish people. And rice, tons of it. I leave a meal feeling bloated and styill hungry because I have not chewed anything cooked.
I confess... I am this close ( know you cannot see my fingers showing you how close but imagine) to shipping my sweet Chloe Elaine off. Quit barking at 3am, let mommy nap from 7-8pm and please try and do your business in timely manner at 5am when its cold and I am trying to get to the gym to do the workout I loathe.
I confess... I need 10am hot yoga tomorrow like nobody's business. My hips and back are killing a girl.
I confess... change is hard and scary and well its kinda consumming my life as of right now. So, say a little word to the man upstairs for me.
Have a good weekend y'all!

Grounded
Not as in when you did something really bad and you parents uttered those dreaded words "You're grounded!" but more how do we keep grounded? How do we look past all the rush and go of everyday and remain true to what we believe, so focused on our greater path?
Some people turn to God, working out, yoga, a good book... For me staying grounded means taking a step backwards and reminding myself that the little things I obsess and worry about are so small in the grand scheme of life. Its much like the Carrie Underwood song "Temporary Home" Our time really is short on earth and often we get bogged down in the minutia of life when honestly, who wore what to the Oscars or whether Sally is having an affair with Bob doesn't really matter.
It doesn't matter if our kids go out the door with unmatching socks, or bows, or whether we cook the perfect meal for our husbands. Next week that nasty rumor will be yesterday's news; and the fact that you missed your best friend's bday will be ok.
Staying grounded is so much harder now that we are so connected via social networking. Its easier to turn on the TV then sit with our spouses and talk. Gone are the days when we took walks or rode bikes and instead consumed our evenings with the stock market, sports talk and reality shows. Its easy to feel overwhelmed with stress, worry, or depression--we feel out of control sometimes, or like we do not have enough hours in the day to accomplish all the things we "need" to do.
So, how do I stay grounded?
1. I feel and accept ALL my emotions. Its not easy, sometimes I do not want to feel them or acknowledge them or even talk about them, but its important. Emotions are messages from yourself and they tell us when we are out of balance.
2. I eat well - most of the time. It keeps me feeling better and gives me energy to keep going. But I also allow myself those treats every once in a while, they are important too.
3. Hot bath - take one, with wine, tea, vodka, I dont judge what you drink is. But take that time to relax and enjoy some alone time.
4. Exercise - it releases endorphins, endorphins makes you happy, happy people just don't kill their husbands (I know total Legally Blonde there), but its true! Sweat it out... get all that aggression out on the treadmill, or whatever!
5. Breathe... yes you heard me. I take deep breaths a lot. It allows fresh air into my lungs and rejuvenates me.
6. Pray. Nothing fancy about it. Nothing complicated, no perfect way to, just do it. If you do not ask, you cannot receive.

I've Got an Orchid in My Office
Oh the glamorous life of a lawyer. People think I rush in and out of court each day Law & Order or Suits style, filing motions, arguing cases... Ha! Today I will evict someone, in JP court. (AKA fake court). But most of my days are spent doing various other random tasks that don't remotely involve a courtroom.
Exhibit A: The orchid in my office. This comes to me from my secretary who brought this gorgeous thing to near death last year. See she has no natural light in her cubicle. I have vast window space. So in came said orchid. This was followed by an influx of plants. I currently have a pomegranate tree, this orchid and some ferns. Yes, my office is where plants come to rejuvenate (except I forget to water them).
Exhibit B: The firm website. Yes I have been dealing with our new website for 4 months now. Ya know because its billable hours and all.... Its like pulling teeth to get people to do anything about it somedays. And bios? Lordy! Office full of lawyers who can't write about themselves?
Exhibit C: I lose between an hour and 2 each day to random things. I look up and bam, Ive done nothing related to law. I've stapled, cut, binded, dealt with people's concerns about taxes and insurance... I basically am a glorified hand holder somedays.
Exhibit D: Every Monday I become Jillian Michaels. Yes everyone parades into my office to weigh in. I love that I am able to have the trust of my co workers as they work on their bodies, but man all the other stuff that comes with? I could do without. It has become more a competition than a lifestyle change.
So, when I tell you not to go to law school, listen to me. Save yourself the weight gain as you sit for hours on end, the carpal tunnel from typing and the constant breakouts from stress.

Confessional Friday
Ah, hello friday, and end to the longest week ever (I swear seriously)
I confess... I am still quasi-sick. Yes the sore throat that could... its just keeps on giving people! So, i finally broke down and bought some liquid Tylenol
I confess... I need to get back on the heathy eating bandwagon. I have been less than good with my diet. There has been happy hour, bread pudding, bread... yeah I know... plus stress is not helping. So, I am going to stick to it! Chicken, veggies, fish, here I come!
I confess... Life is hard. Sin is everywhere, temptation lurking at every corner. It's a constant battle to keep your life focused upwards.
I confess... I want another dog. Not that I don't love my Chloe Elaine, but I would love a larger dog to take running. Yeah Chloe poops out at like oh mile negative 1.
I confess... I need a couch.
I confess... I am a tad bored with my job. And I am convinced its making me fat. I mean I sit all day long in a chair at a desk, staring at a computer. So naturally I look forward to meals and leaving.
I confess... I need a vacation like its nobody's business. I need to get away, feel the sun on my face, have not a worry in the world.
What's on your mind this week?
