Chocolate Makes it Better

Yeah, so sorry I was MIA yesterday. I just had no desire, energy or time to blog. I would say it was because I had a fabu weekend, but alas I mostly did some of this.

As did the pups. I was just exhausted, so I slept. And then I felt like poo Sunday, so I slept some more. I did what I like to call championship sleeping. I think I probably slept at least 10 hours each day.

I did have some fun. Friday was gorgeous here in Texas. So, we headed to a local joint called the Bearded Lady and had some grub and someone had some beer.

Saturday, post sleep-session, there was a dinner trip to Kona Grill, where someone had some sushi.

Sunday, post sleep-session, someone made me Dijon-pesto salmon.

As for the rest of the weekend and my life? I am mourning Duke's loss and the bust of my bracket, but oh well cause who saw Mercer coming?

And, I was so excited because my iHome died. Ok, so that is not what got me excited. I have been working musicless for about 3 weeks. 3 long, quiet weeks. So, I finally invested in bluetooth speaker. Meet Mini Jawbox. Isn't she cute? And there is dead iHome. Notice she thinks its 6:35am? Yeah its not. And she is perpetually stuck in some Tejano station, so alas, my Jambox rocks! I have my Kiss FM in the morning and my tunes all day via my ipod or phone!

Well, I know its not exciting, but its me. Up this week, more MSJ drafting and mediation prep. Oh, and Spring may creep its pretty little head in here.

My Crazy Thoughts

This may come as a surprise to you, or maybe it doesn't, but I tend to have the weirdest thoughts. Like all-out panic thoughts about things that require no worry at all.

1. Someone will attack me at night - yes I tend to wake up to ever noise (critter or not) thinking someone is invading my home. Its especially weird when my sound machine mysteriously turns off at night... total freak out

2. People are mad at me - I probably ask le guy and others if they are mad at me like a zillion times a day. Its like  I have an innate fear that I am constantly pissing people off.

3. Chloe hates me - Ever since I moved out of "our" house and took Chloe with me, I think she hates me. I also think she resents me bringing Sophie into the house. She just looks at me and is like, u.. when is dad coming home?

4. Not eating one cookie, one latte, one piece of candy will miraculously make me skinnier. Like if I can just thwart one thing, I will drop 5 pounds in a hot second. So, when I "need" that sweet, I feel like I am doomed and I just go overboard.

5. I constantly disappoint people - Like I walk around feeling like no matter what I have upset someone, disappointed someone, and I must perfect. Like this one drives me mad. Hello insecurity.

Maybe they are not weird to you, but to me, I feel crazy when I have these thoughts. Tack on the crazy episode I had last week with le guy about how my life took a turn for the crazy at 30 and now I am 31 and would like to get things back on track so here is my ideal timeline, crazy.

What random thoughts do you have?

and I know I have been bad on my 31 days posts... but here is today's episode of 31 Lessons.

Day 15: Only you know when you're ready. Ready for anything. Ready to move out, move on, tell people, go out, love again. People will give you advice, their timeline, tell you to do this or that or wait or you need to be doing x, y, z.... You know when its ok for you to do anything, listen to yourself and don't be afraid to follow that instinct.

When you Take a Girl to CM

Cm--Central Market that is. Yeah, so our small group met there last night for a lil food, fellowship and grocery shopping? No, its just happened that I needed several things pretty much only found here, hello xantham gum? So, post eatsy I headed through the aisles (E did not know what hit him).

I took out my lists, yes you heard me lists... I was armed and dangerous with items to make several meals and some yummy shakes courtesy of Katie over at The Dashing Dish. If you have never read her blog or delighted in her recipes, well you should. She takes all the food I love and turns it into healthy alternatives (a girl after my own heart). And she has a million recipes for protein shakes.

Well, after a few samples, a hunt for cocoa powder and $101 later, I came home and stocked the fridge and pantry.

Also, Chloe Elaine got a summer cut yesterday and was just too cute for words! She pranced and danced all the way home!

And here lies the menace to society that I call Sophie Diane who caused the fiasco from yesterday and continues to terrorize the world (and her sister).

Happy Thursday y'all, week is almost over!

Just a Tad of Strawberry

To say I was overwhelmed with the love from yesterday's post would be an understatement. Your comments, emails, texts and chit chats on my couch were just what I needed. I know I am loved, but t his one was hard for me. Not so much that I felt I would be judged or looked down upon by y'all, but more how others would perceive it (you know those people I exist with in real life and not in blogland). Needless to say, but thank you. Thank you all for being so supportive of me, loving me and most of all praying for me.

But I digress... not really, as this was in no way a planned post. No, instead I bring you the hilarity of my life. So, I bought a house, yeah I owe you all pictures soon, but yes I am a homeowner. Things I have realized: I have no sprinkler system and live in Texas. So I spent 45 minutes last night setting up the hose and sprinklers so I could turn them on this morning (my designated day to water) and feed the lawn. 45 minutes to screw in some sprinkler heads? Yeah, it was place and test, place and test, get soaked, eaten alive by mosquitos and make a complete food out of myself in my pjs in my lawn. Yeah, what a Tuesday night!

So, I get up this morning, let the pups out, and proceed out of my back gate to turn on the water. I close the gate walk around the front and turn them on. I proceed to water. yes, water mostly the sidewalk and like a pea-size portion of my front lawn.... oh well. I head back inside and proceed to get ready for the day.

I dawn my favorite coral, linen dress which used to fit beautifully and I have been working hard to get back into. I tried it on, lil snug, but yes we can wear it! Small victory people, small.  I do my make up and then head back out to move the sprinklers before I do my hair. I proceed out the back gate again when, bam, a small Sophie-sized bullet shoots out of the back gate and proceeds down the street at lightening speed. She gallops, yes people my 7 pound pugeranian gallops like a freaking gazelle. I scream, yell, holler... nothing... I then notice the white fluffy mop I call Chloe engaging in a little tiff with the feral cat that lives under my neighbor's car. I abandon Chloe for the one dog down the street.

She is racing around a neighbor's yard like a banshee! She has found the one yard with dogs that can see her. She barks, yaps, squeals in delight and races circles around this yard. I am so mad at this point... I am in someone's yard, in a dress with flip flops, make up on, glasses on, hair in an awful mess and now sweating. I am livid to say the least. I approach her slowly and bend down to grab her, when RIPPP, yup you heard me, the slit in my dress rips... Great, now I am in the middle of the neighborhood with my a$$ hanging out of the dress I was so proud to get into!

I head back to the house, hoping the tear in my dress is not that bad.  If I could send her back I would. I abandon the sprinklers at this point and round up chloe and head inside. I cannot even look at Sophie. She got a good nose bop and a stern talking to (if CPS coulda heard me they would remove my children, good thing they can't....). It's now 6:55 and I have to fix my hair, eat breakfast and get Chloe to the groomer by 7am. FAIL. I look in the mirror at the dress... I see nothing out of sorts... the slit appears a lil higher, but magically I can move a little better in it than before. (I am sure there is something I cannot see and will be embarrassed later by a gaping hole). I rush through my hair throw on shoes and such, corral the dogs in the kitchen coax Chloe to me and rush out the door.

Which is how I ended up at Einstein's ordering a pumpernickel bagel, toasted with just a tad of strawberry smear... and writing this post. Sometimes you just need a carb-loaded breakfast with strawberry to make a bad morning better. Pray for and if anyone wants a 7 pound menace she is all yours!

I Ate A Shark

Yup, you heard me correctly I ate a shark, as in one of those gummy ones in shades of blue. Yup I ate it at like 745 am. Shark for breakfast! Not like sharknado... more like gummy bear, but bigger and way tastier...

So, its Wednesday and I have not much to tell other than my house is still a mess... but...I have:

  • a doggie door (thank you E)
  • TV (thank you E for wheeling and dealing with the man)
  • floors will cost me $5400 to replace (grrr)
  • A/C tuned up
  • bathed dog who ran like a man woman through the mud
  • fixed electrical
  • lights in the backyard (Thank you neighbors for giving me a ladder and anything else I have asked to borrow)
  •  a storm door that does not shut (so please Mr. workman shut the front door when you come in), which leads me to the phrase I have used more than once this weekend and made me sound like my mother "I'm not paying to air condition the outside!"
Things I need to do/buy"

  • mow the lawn/learn to mow/hire someone?
  • spray for bugs
  • get bookcase from my Aunt's
  • paint dining room chairs
  • buy another big basket for blankets, etc...
  • get rest of my crap from apartment
  • acquire a sugar daddy? maybe?
Happy Wednesday y'all and Happy Birthday to my girl Jessika over at Stand Still Look Pretty! and Erin @ Living in Yellow!!.

And then it was Tuesday

This blog post is being brought to your courtesy of no sleep! Yes, I think I perhaps got 2-3 hours of shut eye. Between the train (yes I literally live practically on the rail yard), the restless dog, my wild imagination and oh did I mention the sore throat?

Yes, I'm not sure whether its exhaustion, the weather (from 70 - 20 in 24 hours) or that I'm actually getting sick, either way it must go away! So what do I do, what any other sick woman would do, I got up at 5am, got in a short workout, showered, put chicken noodle soup in the crockpot and went to work. Most of you are screaming, stay in bed! Get some rest! My head screams, bill hours! Get stuff done! Look busy, and oh today is chili lunch at work...

I have such a sense of loyalty to my job. Rain, sleet, ice (literally), sickness, health ( I feel like I'm exchanging vows with it!) Yes, I think I may be slightly married to my job. I mean I do spend like 10 hours a day here, share my life with the people I work with, eat, sleep (yes sleep) and breathe it. Vacation, sure, only if I can take work with me? It's sad. I went to happy hour with some new attorney friends and they are still bright-eyed and busy-tailed about this profession. Me, so jaded after only 2 years. I griped as they were awed by the things they do. They still think any new project is awesome and have not felt the pressure of billables or collections. So young!

And the weather (told you this was no sleep induced). Get it together Mother Nature! Winter, spring? figure it out already. My closet would like to know which wardrobe to house at the moment and not be in limbo anymore. My tongue wants to know whether it needs iced frap or hot latte! Turtleneck today, tank tomorrow? It's ridiculous!

Ok, so enough of my rant. If you need me I will be immersed in some sort of task involving residence premises!

Have you Ever?

Random but when I typed the title of this post the song Have You Ever by Brandy immediately popped in my head as well as the icebreaker never have I ever that totally ruled during TCU orientation that i worked for three consecutive summers... Yes we were those cool people in purple polos and khaki's who drolled on about how awesome TCU was, sang some ridiculous songs and danced for you at dinner...

I digress.... So, my point is have you ever had one of those weekends where you intended ot accomplish XY and Z and accomplished F, G and let's say P....hell I think I even covered Q (and everyone knows that the least cool letter right?)

I admit I was a bit distracted this weekend by my inner monologue telling me I needed to relax and cool down, but couldn't help myself from working, doing some pageant prep, getting my nails done, driving around aimlessly... ya know the norm for a busy lawyer who goes to trial in less than 30 days.... I did manage to get in some major friend time in the form of Should-be sis's 29th bday party Saturday night and family bday lunch Sunday, love me some family fun when its not my family (why is it that other people's family seems like so much more fun than your own?)

I also did some much needed thinking and pondering ( I cogitated a lot ya'll). I wrote a lot (which tends to help me sleep), and waxed poetic via text and email, I did write some work things too (boo!).

I watched some bowl games, only because I now am in 2nd place in the office pool and so needed some wins (thank you A&M, Ole Miss, no thanks Kent State... seriously top 25 team loses) Now I'm counting a Bama win and I'll be golden!

All-in-all a successful weekend, minus a smattering of grrs and ughs due to some poor communication between hubs and I, but ya live and learn right?

So, now that I have finished this post I realized it did not quite go how I planned, it was supposed to be more of a have you ever and then explain and then move on to the next point and so on and so forth, but I feel this completely random barrage of thoughts written in no dramatic form fits my mood much better.

In other news, if one more person comes in my office ready to either weigh in for the office Biggest Loser or tells me they have somehow bulked up over the weekend or are wearing 12 layers of clothing I may scream.... its to get healthy people! AND I'M BUSY! Alright, I leave you with that this Monday morning...
