Life's Genres

I have a calendar in my office that has quotes\sayings\verses each month. My wonderful best friend gave it to me for Christmas because it reminded her of our law school carrell which was decorated with inspiring quotes and thoughts (and the occasional gripe or wine). This months quote is:
LIFE IS ISN'T DIVIDED INTO GENRES. IT'S A HORRIFYING, ROMANTIC, TRAGIC, COMICAL, SCIENCE-FICTION COWBOY DETECTIVE NOVEL." -Alan Moore
For well, the past 20 days I have misread this quote and left out the isn't, and kept thinking, well ok.... until today as I looked closely at it and read the "n't" into it and when, ah! It's funny because most of us classify out days into categories; good, bad, great, awful, wonderful... you get the point. But the truth is its not the days that matter, its the grander scheme of things. When I look back at my life, I don't remember each day on its own (except for those really special ones) I see this amazing technicolor roller coaster of events that have shaped me.

Only you hold the key to the book of your life. So make every word, page, and chapter count. Write the best science-fiction cowboy detective novel you can. ~The Illegal Blonde
