It's Ok Thursday

Y'all should be so proud of me, I decided this week to keep a list of my lil confessions for the week... just sat it right there on my desk so I could catch all the lil thoughts that run through my head, so here are some good ones....

It's OK.....

  • to forget that not all people I speak with or deal with are clients
  • to get excited when you look at the clock and its 10:13 and you smile cause 10/13 is your birthday (anyone else do this?)
  • to steal cute meme's from P!nky and share them with your friends and they love them and make your day....
  • to ask for a coloring book and markers for your stocking this Christmas
  • to share dessert with your co-workers because you both want pie and cake
  • to close your office door because you need space and a good cry
  • to take it as a compliment when you boss tells you he appreciates that you keep your figure (darn right! I don't workout at 5am for nothing!)
  • to make fun of yourself when you realize you have been a total drama queen
  • to miss your best friend more than your husband sometimes....
  • to not be ready for Christmas, but craving the New Year!
  • to ask for depo summaries to do because they are good billable hours, then curse yourself because they are awfully boring
  • to hate: doc review, doc production, marking hot docs, really anything involving documents!
  • to eat four one thing from the copious gift baskets we have received each day
  • to feel closer to your blog friends than your real friends sometimes
What's ok with you this Thursday?

I hate Christmas

There, I said it... I kind of hate Christmas. I know its blasphemy... Grinch-like and all. How dare I utter those words...

Truth is, Christmas was not one of those holidays that brought  comfort and joy to my household. It was stressful and Santa just was, well lean... So I never developed this awe-inspiring need for Christmas. The lights, tree, blah blah blah... it just seemed so overrated and materialistic. Our first married Christmas, hubs forced me to buy a tree and stockings.... it was a wal-mart special with colored lights... Colored I said, hello Griswalds!

Now, its not all bad. I do love me some midnight Mass and tamales on Christmas Eve, I just guess I could do without all the decor. I mean, my MIL, yeah well its looks like Christmas threw-up in her house (and did I mention the woman is Jewish?). I just do not feel the need to have a Santa-infested home or a reindeer invasion...

I hoped that once I was married we would develop our own traditions, have things we did for the Holidays... But hasn't quite happened yet. We still drive to Ft Worth and spend it with our respective families. We travel from home-to-home eating and opening, conversing and cocktails (well at my fam we have the cocktails....). I feel like after Christmas I need a vacation from the holiday. I enjoy the family stuff, but I do long for the day I wake up in my own bed to a tree filled with presents for my own little ones. (working on that one may kill me though).

I admit we did get a nicer tree this year (thanks for the donation Mr. Big-Wig attorney), and white lights and some new adornments (hello Target!). I hung stocking from the chimney with care, but I know that come that fateful morning I will be propped up on the couch, crick in my neck and in need of... well Summer!

So, call me the Grinch, or Scrooge, but Christmas just seems like so much work for a holiday about our savior. Let's not forget the reason for the season. Tree and trimmings aside, its about being thankful for our many blessings and remembering family.

When Things Go Blah in the Night

Yeah, its one of those days. Ya know when you wake up with a case of the blahs. I hate to admit that I have nothing astounding going on in my life at the moment, unless you call work and the amount of it astounding.

My days revolve around the excitement of conference calls where I say more than my name, meetings with out firm's website designer, and copius writing assignments that involve research that bores me to tears or frustrates me to no end. It is the hustle and bustle of the pre-holiday rush of things that must be done by year's end, or resolving cases before the new year. It's finalizing divorces so people can start anew in 2013.

It's that time of the year when I'm either slammed or find myself pinning things and billing to case management... (I do not actually do that, well I pin but not bill for it). So, I apologize for the lack of an awe-inspiring post today. Today I give you my case of the blahs.

My clothes seems blah, my hair, well it has seen better days and is in desperate need of highlights and trim, so yeah... blah...My coffee, blah! I'd rather be sipping a peppermint mocha. My blog, today... blah. Here's to getting through today and focusing on tomorrow, or this weekend, did I mention I get to be with some people I love this weekend? Tootles for now and hope everyone else has more than a case of the blahs.

December?

So, I got up Saturday morning and put on shorts... yes people shorts... on December 1st! I went to the TCU game and wore a skirt! Skirt I tell you, and got a sunburn on my back. Now, even though my Horned Frogs lost, it was one heck of a game!

Haylee (future TCU twirler, Skyler (her last game) my twirling teacher and fav person and me former twirler)
So, back to my lessthanhappy feelings about the heat in the dead of winter... I mean is it too much to ask for it to be at least less than 70 as I deck the hall and trim the tree? Come on Father Christmas... shed a lil winter weather my way! I also would like to be able to enjoy a hot peppermit mocha or salted caramel... HOT, not iced or frappacino... HOT as in warm me up because brrr baby its cold outside?

Pre decor

Post decor and run to target for more lights
So the rest of my weekend? Work, work and some more work.... eh I knew it would catch up to me, but short week coming up for me, but lots of work in between! For now, I'll be wearing my Uggs in protest and praying for a lil cooler weather, I've got a closet fill of sweaters waiting to be worn!
