"Ce-law-brity" News Flash!

So, I love what I do, but I'm also a woman, so I love all things fashion and celebrity-gossip related. Most of all, I love when the two mix! Here's a few celebrity law issues in the news:

A New Look

TGIF

Ok, so I know I was in the middle of a series about legal documents every person should have, and I promise I will get back to those, but boy this has been one busy week! This baby lawyer is ready for the weekend! So, here a few things I have learned in lawyer-land this week:

  • Sometimes its better to start over than try to fix someone else's mess
  • Details are the difference between a good lawyer and malpractice
  • Multi-tasking is so much easier when you have 4 arms, 3 ears, and 2 brains instead of 1!
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions (see comment about malpractice)
  • The key to organization is a good list!
  • People notice your work product (no lawyer pun intended) so do your best.
  • Networking is your friend, you never know when someone will need a lawyer!
Needless to say, but I am so ready for the weekend! Check back next week for legal documents every person needs, in the meantime check out last week's advice! ~The Illegal Blonde

365

So 363 days ago I was preparing for one of the biggest days of my life! Amazing how time flies and things change! Here's a look back at the last 365 days of my life:

  • Jan. 2 - moved apartments
  • Jan. 7 - Rehearsal Dinner & Aggies play in the Cotton Bowl (what difference a year makes....)
  • Jan. 8 - I married the hubs! and the high was 62
  • Jan. 9 - A huge freeze hit DFW and it snowed!
  • Jan. 10 - I started my last semester of law school in a new town and at new school
  • Feb. - went on the "cruise to nowhere" with the hubs and his company (the weather was bad and we didn't get to leave the Gulf)
  • March - headed to Atlantis for our Honeymoon
  • May 14 - graduated from law school!!!!
  • May 23 - Began BARBRI
  • May 26 - 29 - Port Aransas for Should-be's bachelorette!
  • June 8 - closed on our first house
  • June - July 26 - STUDIED
  • Jul.  26-28 - Texas Bar Exam
  • Jul. 29 - Aug. 2 - Family Reunion in PA
  • Aug. 3 - 9 - Vacation in St. Johnn with the hubs!
  • Sept. 6 - Forst day of work!
  • Oct. 13 - turned (eek) 29
  • Nov. 4 - Bar exan results . . . I PASSED!
  • Dec. 16 - 18 - Went on my first trip to Las Vegas
Everyone says the first year of marriage is the hardest. I can attest to that! However, if a marriage can survive all of the above in one year, it can survive anything! Here's to persistance, dedication, hardwork, patience, optimism, and lots of compromise. ~The Illegal Blonde

Just For Today

Just for today: I will be slow to anger, speak only kind words, have postive thoughts, drive the speed limit, sit up straight, cross my legs at the ankles, smile, and thank God! Tomorrow is a different story. Take life one day at a time! ~The Illegal Blonde

A Different Kind of Resolve

New Year's Resolutions

So now starts the time of year I hate for several reasons: 1) the gym gets uncontrollably crowded for about 2 months; 2) people make lists of things they are going to do and never accomplish them; 3) its cold; and 4) I'm reminded that turn 30 on 10  months and 10 days. I'm not one that has ever really complied a resolution
list" per se, but I have thought of things that I would like to change, or do better. But this year I have decided that I am going to take the world by . . . quiet storm! I resolve to do little things that will impact my life in an enormous way. Thus year I resolve to be happy. I already have the workout routine down, and for those of you that know me, I'm a pretty healthy eater, so this year will be the year of focusing on what makes me happy: So here's a few things on my get happy list:

  • Travel somewhere new. It doesn’t matter if it’s two or 20 hours away, just make sure you get there and explore. (I'm not countingh Vegas, St. John, or the Bahamas, even though i did that last year)

  • Plan the perfect date. (Cause if I wait on Hubs it'll be 2013)

  • Sing. Loud! In the shower, in my car, or out at karaoke.

  • Try a new position. And I'm not talking yoga here.

  • Turn off Facebook (ok so maybe for a day....)

  • Play hooky from work.  (I'm tenative about this seeing as I just started and all)

  • Stop staring at the old pants in the back of my closet that were from "pre-pageant." (I keep them there in case I 1) gain weight or 2) have a baby and need bigger pants)

  • Adopt another puppy. (This has been a WIP since after the bar....)

  • Take a bubble bath. Music, candles, rose petals, and hubs optional

  • Pay for the person behind me at Starbucks.

  • Pick someone each week or each month who, I love and write them a note of appreciation and thanks (think parents, mentors, old teachers, friends).

  • Eat two desserts without any regret (and then hit the gym a little harder tomorrow).

  • Go to church

  • Take a 5 minute break when in an argument to assess why I am really mad (or not mad)

  • Be slow to anger and quick to forgive (even when I know I'm right!)

  • Love myself for who I am today.

Here's to 2012, the year of Me. ~The Illegal Blonde
