As in the age I wish I could go back to. I mean, Taylor says it all right there in the song! I got to thinking the other day when this song came on during a run. 22, was really as good as T. Swift sings?
For me? yeah! I turned 22 my senior year of college. I twirled my last games at Amon G. Carter Stadium with the band at TCU. I was dating a super sweet guy from high school. I travelled to London my last semester for an internship and travelled all over Europe. I started my first job, moved to Austin, left my first job and moved back to Fort Worth and began working full-time at TCU. I had my first two apartments all by myself. I made my first major purchase in the form of bedroom furniture that I still use to this day.
But, I also learned a lot about myself. What I liked, didn't like, wanted, didn't want. What its like to be told that I am not perfect and some people do not like me or how I work. I also suffered loss. My best friend's dad passed away, and my other best friend's younger brother passed away. My group of friend's from high school bonded and formed last friendship that perhaps wasn't there during college.
22. I partied. I gained the post-college 15. I lived on pb sandwiches and Little Cesear's $5 hot & ready pizza and cereal. For the first time I wasn't twirling.
Yes, 22 was a pivotal year for me. I went from college co-ed to world traveler to working woman in the course of one year. I made decisions that would cement who I was, where I was going and the things that would come. i was stupid, silly, frivolous, yest brave, adventurous and bold. It was pre-M, post
What about you? Would you do 22 again?
I love that song and I love this post. WOW, 22 was such a random year for me. Was single after dating my college bf up until senior year. I was so optimisitc about working and jobs and planned to get an internship at ESPN, easy breezy.
ReplyDeleteI was living at home, but that was okay because I was making peanuts temping. I also was able to go on two trips because I didn't have 'job' job.
WOW! 22, what a blast from the past.
Yes. In a heartbeat I would go back. Senior year in college, I took the semester off to intern at the state Capitol. I was having fun, working full time, getting paid & still enjoying the perks of being in my college town during football season. Such a great time! Also the year I decided I wanted to go to law school. A lot of good memories of 22 :)
ReplyDeleteOh gosh... 22 was an interesting age for me. I started my first full time job at 22 after just graduating from college. I am not sure that I would go back in time, haha! I like where I'm at now. :)
ReplyDelete22 seems SO long ago...but still so recent. If that even makes sense. When I was 22 I was right out of college, heading to grad school, just out of a 4 year relationship with my first real boyfriend...life was kinda scary and exciting since I was going to grad school in DC, living at home to save $$. I don't think I would go back to being 22 again because it was rough. If I could go back to and stay any age I think it'd be 28. I really knew who I was then, I met MG, life seemed to finally make sense...it was just a big turning point for me.
ReplyDeleteI would probably go back to being 22 because I was still in college living it up with my friends and wasn't as worried about the future as I am now! Ha! At least at 22, I was not as pessimistic as I am right now!
ReplyDeleteI'm already thinking life is going by so fast and I'm not 22 yet! Just hope it keeps getting better and that the next years are as exciting as yours! :)
ReplyDeleteI think I would go back to my carefree 23-24 year old self. Employed and supporting myself fully, partying every thurs-sun, hangovers did not exist and single life was amazing. But honestly only if I knew what I knew now would I go back...
ReplyDeleteAt times I miss the carefree days of 22...But at the same time, I've learned so much in the last 5 years (and become a mother!), I don't think I would want to lose it all to go back. Ask me again when I'm 40, and I might be singing a different tune, ha!:)
