There She Is....

I am back from Miss America and wow what a trip! For those of you that saw my Friday mid-air post you know that my trip started out less than stellar due to a broken laptop screen and a changed gate... However, things got better.

We arrived at 9am Vegas time and headed to the hotel.  We stayed at the Aria, which is at City Center and loved it! Check in took about 45 minutes, but worth it. We then headed to the Planet Hollywood, aka Miss A HQ and went to dress shopping.

All the major evening gown designers come out and show their collections at Miss A and you can custom order and get the designers input. We had appointments with Tony Bowls, MacDougal, and Claire's Collections. It was phenomenal, but a long day. Seriously, if I see one more gown I may puke.

Saturday was more of the same. We visited the Miss America trade-show. It was a sea of dresses, shoes, accessories, stuff! I also got to meet several former Miss America's and get their autographs, hello Lee Merriweather and my fav Miss A Heather Whitestone!

Finally, it was time for the show. To save a lil cash, some of us decided to serve as seat fillers for the show (can we say free ticket?) So at 4pm we gathered into the holding cell along with 1000 other people doing the same thing to wait... and wait and wait.... Finally at 5:45 we were ushered into the auditorium and told to fill in every empty seat. Luckily, our group got permanent seats together and sat down for the show!

As for the show, here's my mini recap.... Texas made top 10, Go DaNae (former Baylor twirler and Texas Tech law student!) She did a one drop performance of her talent, but looked gorgeous as always!

MerriBeth Cox Miss Indiana (also a twirler) made top 10 as well!

As for talent, my fav was Alicia Clifton Miss Oklahoma, who is a phenomenal tap dancer, like awesome! Other than Miss Wisconsin, the other two singers were awful! As was the lyrical dancer.... wow that was not dance... it was just bad.... Three great tappers and two piano players, who were good. Though I wish Miss Texas had brought home the crown, I think Miss New York is a wonderful new Miss America. I don't have many pics, but here are a few from my whirlwind.... (umm cannot upload them at the moment will try again later...)

Did you all tune it? What did you think? And how bad do we all feel for poor girl who said recreational marijuana should be legal? See her being famous for that soon! Later lovelies!

  2. That sounds so wonderful, I would LOVE to do the gown tryout and fittings. The contestants always look so beautiful.

I had to turn to football during talent [darn boys] and was super bummed I miss the baton twirling!

Glad your day turned around! :)

  3. I thought Miss NY answered her question better in the last round - which I think is why she won. Otherwise, I think Miss SC would have taken it hands-down. She just seemed like a favorite. Sounds like you had so much fun! They were all beautiful! And you're so right - some of the singing was awful. I was embarrassed for a few of them!

  4. I enjoyed the show, I always do! When you go does it make you miss it? I'm happy with who won too, but of course I always want California to win :)
