Give Thanks and Eat

So I had the Lasik Tuesday... and was pretty much out of it that night. I'd say a valium two glasses of champagne and an ambien is enough to knock this pretty girl out, and say some pretty funny things and/or end up in tears in my closet that night searching for pj's! Poor le guy.... he was so sweet and took great care of me.

Wednesday was weird. I mean to just see... I mean the vision was a tad blurry and at night I have some halos.... but just totes weird to open my eyes at 3am and see! Oh and did you know that the trees have actual leaves? like individual tiny leaves? Yeah very new for me.

And then we had Thanksgiving. I did brunch with V&D and their family as always at the club and indulged in waffles, French toast, shrimp, crab and avocado salad.. .lil turkey, and some dessert. Then we headed home for a nap, some candyland with D's grandkids. Then we had meal #2! Smoked turkey, potato casserole, parmesan/honey brussel sprouts (a la me!) and some rum cake.

Friday I had lunch with my brother and nephew and pretty much slept.... all day... I was missing le guy a lot (as he was with his family). I did single girl dinner at Pie 5 and hit up Sam's and Garden Ridge... yup that was my fancy Black Friday.

cutest tot ever

love me some pizza and love Pie 5

Saturday I worked out, and decided to skip the TCU/Baylor game. I was tired and had to pick up le guy from the le airport, which trumped football... We had a nice dinner and I was in bed by 10...  I know old... I do not care I got so much rest this weekend and my eyes were thankful.

Sunday I worked a little in the morning and then had a fab 30th bday brunch with one of my good friends and sorority sisters! We all got together and grubbed on wonderful food from Tillman's Roadhouse here in Fort Worth. If you live around here, you should totally catch their brunch. Then le guy and I doned the house with holiday décor! After one small bout of tears and a new (skinnier) tree to fit in my tiny living room, we had this!
my tiny (pretty much red raider) tree

And that my friends is how I spent the last 4 days. Well, that and putting drops in my eyes every hour it seems and trying to workout to keep the "lb's" down. Can you believe Christmas is only 3 weeks away! EEKK! I am so not ready. Just hoping this year is much better than last. xoxo!

Baby Its Cold Outside

So I mentioned Friday that I loved winter and guess what? It arrived at my doorstop this weekend. It was wet, cold, windy and well just wonderful. I would love to recap all the lovely things I did, but I didn't.

I mean, I co-hosted a baby shower for one of my co-workers Friday night, but then it was couch, and Netflix or couch and napping. My lil 1926 built house just has no insulation and well, folks, its 50 shades of freezing. The puppies won't even walk on the tile floors. Brr, that's cold. So this is what my weekend looked like:

quick trip to the groomer...

We are ready for the short week and Thanksgiving!!! I shall indulge in waffles, shrimp, shrimp, dessert... Yes I know, sounds a tad untraditional, but I will explain more later. AND... I have exciting news! Tune in tomorrow to hear about it. Stay warm friends.

Giving Thanks

I love Thanksgiving. I had this conversationMonday with a lady who was getting ready at the gym along with me. It's perhaps my second favorite holiday, right behind Halloween.

Think about it: a holiday all about the food. No decor, no presents, no pageants, plays, choirs, hub bub, just food. Tons of it. Rows and tables and buffets galore! It's football, naps and feasting. It's family togetherness without the fuss. So give thanks today for the many blessings the Lord has afforded you. Feats at his table and rejoice in all His glory.

A Time to Give Thanks

So I know tomorrow is actually Thanksgiving, but today I wanted to stop and give thanks for the many blessings in my life.

  • I have a job where I am surrounded by people who want me to succeed
  • I am surrounded by family (real & adopted) who love and care for me
  • I have at best little sister in the world who I could not be more proud of
  • My puppy loves me to death and I love her
  • The food on my table everyday
  • The men and woman who protect our freedom everyday
  • The civil servants who patrol our streets and keep us safe
  • The best friends a girl could ask for, you may think us ex-pageant queens are petty and mean, but I am constantly amazed that they are some of my closest and best friends
  • The ability to obtain an education
  • God.
  • (and that I do not have to work Friday....) :)
God Bless everyone and have a safe and abundant Thanksgiving. ~ The Illegal Blonde
