Wine Down Monday

I am back from a wonderful trip with my best friends! It was full of wine, laughter, history, food, did I mention food? Oh, and an epic hammock nap! Needless to say I did not have time to get a wonderful post all ready, but... it shall come! Meanwhile, here are some of the "phrases" from the trip.

  • She said it! (someone's mom did not quite get that whole "that's what she said" line)
  • they were swinging
  • bean bag
  • food baby
  • i'm so tired
  • I love you so much
  • DUH!
  • your pallet is so immature
  • #fallcreekout
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

5 on Friday

Happy Friday ya'll! I'm off to the Texas Hill Country with my besties for Girls' Weekend. Don't you love a good girl's trip? So, today I give you my top 5 favorite memories from this trip in years past!

1. These Cookies - Best cookie ever (seriously, it started a whole text)
2. Dancing at Hondo's in Fredricksburg! We always manage to make new friends, score free drinks and make fools of ourselves!

3. Finding the cutest places and doing things like eating ice cream for breakfast!

4. Late Night Catchphrase games. The later it gets, the crazier we get.

5. Last Friendship & Memories!

DJ Faulty Perforation {texts with friends}

Its time for another episode of Texts with Friends, brought to you courtesy of the letter C--for cookie. In this week's episode, we find ourselves getting excited for our upcoming Girls' Weekend Trip, which is this weekend!! In case you have missed this, one of the group of my girlfriends (mostly sorority sisters, college friends and sisters of college friends) take a trip each year to the Texas Hill Country. We tour the wineries, smell some wildflowers, stuff ourselves silly, engage in girl talk and inevitably play Catchphrase til 3am. So... whilst I was at the gym Tuesday, my phone vibrates mid burpee and this is what ensues:

Seriously, nice transition SS

Yup... only this group can go from cookies, to a banana hammock to DJ Faulty Perforation. Wanna hang out with us? Catch the shannigans from this trip by following it via instagram! See ya next year for Girls' Trip 2015. And that ends another episode of Texas with Friends!

Another One Bites the Dust

And with that, another weekend is in the history books. Can't say it was exciting or memorable. It consisted of mostly, work and some cleaning. My house is getting the total spring cleaning makeover people.

Its amazing how much stuff one can amass in such a short time. I closed on my house back in July. Yes, just 9 months ago. At the time, I just wanted to get stuff moved and be "settled." I didn't bother going through a lot of things, and honestly I wasn't ready to at the time. It was too raw, too emotion and still so real to me. So, I just boxed up my previous life because it was easier. I always knew I would need to eventually clean it all out, but July was not the time.

But, now its spring. Time to begin anew, and so I cleaned. Ok, so not technically cleaned, but more threw a ton of "stuff" away. I went through my closet, shoes, pictures, plastic tubs full of stuff from college. Why was it that I was holding onto this or that. Was it because it meant something to me, or because somehow if I kept it, then I might get it all back. Those shoes, do I really like them? Does that skirt really fit? ( I mean, come on, am I really going to go back to 113 pounds overnight? do I really want to?) It was cathartic, emotional, but good.

But let me tell you people, the best part, was watching people literally take my trash from the curb was I was putting it out there. Overnight, someone took the wooden pallets, and Sophie's old dog gate. Two broken lamps, old law books, a dirty rug, old twirling trophies, broken vacuum.... yeah you get my drift. each time I would take something else to the curb, more of the junk disappeared. Eh, one person's junk, is another one's treasure.

The girls loved playing outside and were pooped after the day.\

So, after a day of cleaning and trashing throwing away, I needed some Tex-Mex. We headed downtown to the new Taco Diner I was so excited because I love Mi Cocina and this is one of its sister restaurants. Thoroughly disappointed in its Fajita Salad. It consisted of what appeared to be bagged salad mix, over cooked dry chicken and pre-packaged shredded cheese. So sad. The ceviche was pretty good, with its pineapple and jicama, but overall, I was hoping for a good spot for a salad for lunch and this was not it.

So, here's to Monday and another week. So excited though because Friday I leave for my annual Girls' Trip to The Texas Hill Country! I need this like none other. Happy Monday ya'll!

When You put 15 Girls in a B&B

So, my girlfriends and I have been going on a trip every year since 2007. This was my third trip ( I missed a couple years when I was in law school). We drive through the Texas countryside, visit wineries, laugh and EAT, a eat and eat.

This was exactly what I needed after this week. I always feel so much better after being with these ladies. This year we invited the younger girls as well (aka the little sisters). So there we were 15 ladies headed out to Granbury, Texas. It is a mix of sorority sisters, friends from college, high school, middle school, plus one mom and an aunt! We have the best time every year and cannot wait to plan another one. This year we went to Granbury and the closer wineries instead of our normal jaunt to Fredricksburg.

Here is my weekend in review.

We love to eat!

Games til 2am? Why not?
