A Different Kind of Resolve

New Year's Resolutions

So now starts the time of year I hate for several reasons: 1) the gym gets uncontrollably crowded for about 2 months; 2) people make lists of things they are going to do and never accomplish them; 3) its cold; and 4) I'm reminded that turn 30 on 10  months and 10 days. I'm not one that has ever really complied a resolution
list" per se, but I have thought of things that I would like to change, or do better. But this year I have decided that I am going to take the world by . . . quiet storm! I resolve to do little things that will impact my life in an enormous way. Thus year I resolve to be happy. I already have the workout routine down, and for those of you that know me, I'm a pretty healthy eater, so this year will be the year of focusing on what makes me happy: So here's a few things on my get happy list:

  • Travel somewhere new. It doesn’t matter if it’s two or 20 hours away, just make sure you get there and explore. (I'm not countingh Vegas, St. John, or the Bahamas, even though i did that last year)

  • Plan the perfect date. (Cause if I wait on Hubs it'll be 2013)

  • Sing. Loud! In the shower, in my car, or out at karaoke.

  • Try a new position. And I'm not talking yoga here.

  • Turn off Facebook (ok so maybe for a day....)

  • Play hooky from work.  (I'm tenative about this seeing as I just started and all)

  • Stop staring at the old pants in the back of my closet that were from "pre-pageant." (I keep them there in case I 1) gain weight or 2) have a baby and need bigger pants)

  • Adopt another puppy. (This has been a WIP since after the bar....)

  • Take a bubble bath. Music, candles, rose petals, and hubs optional

  • Pay for the person behind me at Starbucks.

  • Pick someone each week or each month who, I love and write them a note of appreciation and thanks (think parents, mentors, old teachers, friends).

  • Eat two desserts without any regret (and then hit the gym a little harder tomorrow).

  • Go to church

  • Take a 5 minute break when in an argument to assess why I am really mad (or not mad)

  • Be slow to anger and quick to forgive (even when I know I'm right!)

  • Love myself for who I am today.

Here's to 2012, the year of Me. ~The Illegal Blonde
