See, Food

So, I may be a day late and dollar short, but here is my weekend wrap-up, Tuesday-edition. So, le guy's parents came in this weekend to visit. Yup, le parents.

They finally landed Thursday evening, after the epic storm finally stopped here in DFW. I made a delightful dinner of roasted red pepper, and prosciutto stuffed chicken (that I reheated because we already ate). It was a hit!

Friday I worked a half day so I could hang out with them. We showed them all things new in Fort Worth and even took a trip to my house to show it off! Oh, did I mention they brought presents for the puppies? Oh yes they did! (spoiled furbabies).

Friday night we headed to Waters for dinner. Its a superb seafood restaurant owned by a Texas and Fort Worth legend, John Bonnell. Check it out if you are in the area. It was helping upon helping of delicious morsels from the sea, surrounded by wine and dessert! Nom Nom Nom. tummy still full!

Saturday we headed out to Granbury, Texas, a cute small town about 45 minutes south. Dropped the boys off at Revolver Brewery and then went shopping in the square. I had a great lunch with his mom and we just yacked the entire time!

Sunday I was up and at 'em. I made a breakfast casserole before they headed off to the airport! Short but good visit. I know the puppies are missing them already.

Hope all my mama friends had a wonderful Mother's day! xoxo

Home Decor

So le guy and I were sitting on my couch the other night watching Modern Family reruns and we somehow got to talking about home décor. I posed the question "if we ever lived together, what of my stuff would you veto in the new home?" We chatted and then I totally blurted out that I kinda didn't like the rug he has in his living room. Total foot-in-mouth snaphoo.... I tried to backtrack... yeah didn't work either. I finally just said, well, its because its worn and not my favorite design, but I do like the colors in it. I think I smoothed it over. But it got me thinking of what my dream home would look like?

I kind of got that chance back when M and I were married and our house, but I never realty got to do what I wanted. The one thing I have wanted... a gallery wall. I have Pinterest it to death! So... when I was approached by Easy Canvas I totally jumped. What did I have to lose? This would be the start of my own lil gallery. I had a couple other friends who had used them and loved the results, so I jumped on and boy am I glad I did.

I went with one of the photos from my Christmas shoot with the girls, because every gallery needs the family at its center. The result was awesome! I got to choose how it was wrapped and it came so wonderfully packaged, no damage at all! And wow delivery was fast! Easy Canvas Prints was just so simple and wonderful to work with! They sent me the above canvas and now I am hooked. I am going to order some more and start my own gallery wall. And who knows...  maybe it will be our gallery wall someday!

* I was compensated for this post with one free 8x10 canvas. All thoughts are my own

The Ex

So what do you do when you have a busy day at work and need to relieve stress? Gym.... yup, a good workout to get it all out. So, I get home, change clothes, let the pups out to slide around the ice in the backyard and try not to freeze my tookus off (yeah only 59 degrees in my house).... and head to the gym.

I was super pumped to do a new circuit workout that the lovely Mrs. K posted to her instagram so I headed up to the small space on the gym and set to work. Then I looked up and saw....the ex....in the gym heading towards me... of all the space in the gym the ex had to come to my lil space where I am engaging in a much-needed sweat 'sesh.

I averted my eyes, but lord you know how hard it is... to not look, gawk, stare, and then wonder why said ex has not said a thing to you. Do I look different, am I hard to recognize? Maybe that's it.... Perhaps I was mistaken and its not the ex. No, I am pretty darn sure it is.

I continue my workout, meanwhile using my peripheral vision to scope the ex out after every move. Its just so awkward... its killing me! How long will the tension and backward glances last? Finally, I am at my breaking point. I have finished my last circuit (and sweating to death might I add, so perfect time to say something right?) I walk over to the ex and engage. It went something like this:

Me: Hey Ex.

Ex: Lynn, right?

Me: Yeah. I just wanted to come over and say hi. I mean we have a lot of mutual friends and I hate awkward situation, so I hope that there are no hard feelings or such.

Ex: No, not at all. I was pretty sure that was you, but I wasn't. But no.

Me: Oh, good. I am so glad.

....

We exchanged a few more pleasantries and then she walked away. I finished my cardio and abs and headed down to see le guy. I told him about the talk. I don't think he was mad, and actually think it made him feel better that I said something. Truth is, we do have mutual friends and have seen each other out and have been in the same group of people, out. I just decided to put on my big girl panties and break the ice so to speak. Will we be best friends and have wine nights, no, but at least we can perhaps co-exist in the same small town that Fort Worth is and not make everyone feel so uncomfortable, especially, le guy.

Did I have ya'll on pins and needles? Did you think I saw M at the gym and he ignored me? Lol... Now, that would be awkward.

In other news, I have started to receive Christmas cards and oh I love it! I keep them every year and its fun to watch families grow and friends change. Shout out to my blog bestie and her cute card hey P!inky and my Dallasite Neely and uber cute card too! Love ya'll so much.

Icemageddon 2013

I know I have not blogged in like a couple days.... and I have very good reason. I had mediation Wednesday til late, and Thursday, followed by the beginning of icemageddon Thursday night. So, there I was driving home from my photoshoot for Fort Worth's Most Beautiful Women and was being pelted by sleet. Yes, sleet, coming at my every which way. I finally made it home, bouffant hair and all. I coaxed the dogs out and then bundled up for bed in hopes of something warmer the next day. No dice people, no dice.

I woke up Friday to this: (don't mind the creepy house across the street)

And to my heater that pooped out, as in would not get above 55 in my house... Yeah, 55 inside 30 outside, gee golly it was grand! So, we braved the ice and headed to a place with heat! And our weekend looked like this:

chicken chili

puppies in clothes!

napping

cozy socks

a trip to mmm's office Saturday so she could work

snuggling

more napping

We also, slipped on the ice about 3 times taking the girls out, Sophie decided she didn't want to hold it until the "grass" and pooped on the driveway and Chloe would only go on the only spot of uniced grass... It was life for death taking these two out. And we went stir crazy!! Finally, Saturday I needed to get out and get stuff from the office. So... le guy drove us (and by us  mean Me, and Chloe and Sophie). We grabbed some work, then headed to check on my house and hit the gym. We needed to move out limbs! It was all dandy until we made the stupid decision to take the bridge shortcut to my house and slid all the way down.... I think I prayed more in 5 minutes than in my whole life! We took the better way home.

And then we were in the count. We watched TV, ran around the coffee table, played fetch, napped... Basically the girls did nothing. Mommy, err I mean, I managed to get some good work done and only slightly annoy le guy. (he was probably ready to get the girls out of his house).

And then we finally came home Sunday. Played outside in the snow and hit the gym up again.

downtown Fort Worth

And then had mexican food, along with everyone else in the Fort who needed out of the house. Mi Cocina was packed! I was informed the office is closed again tomorrow, but I will make the trek because I 1) have work to do and 2) need OUT OF THE HOUSE!.

So, hope you all had a great week and weekend and I am happy for the end of Icemageddon 2013. And just for a sneak peak... the girls and I are excited for our Christmas cards this year.... !!
